The company man in Canada

You might think that after 16 years with the same company, an employee would suffer from a mild pioneer streak and desire for new surroundings. However, that is not at all the case for Stewart Davies, Operations Manager of BHJ Canada. He is now more than ever a company man.

As Operation manager, he is in charge of production for BHJ Canada. Stewart is responsible for coordinating the activity of 15 team members at our production facility in Bolton, near Toronto. In addition, he is responsible for four fresh equipment installations - chilling equipment that has been installed directly into a slaughter plant where material is collected and processed. This material is shipped fresh via tanker trucks to customers.

A good example
When Stewart punches in at around 8 am, he usually goes through inspections and routine check-ups from the night before. He makes sure that the production is running as planned and coordinates adjustments to the schedule as required. But his responsibilities stretch beyound buildings and machines: as operations manager, he is also responsible for the well-being of his employees and the strict compliance with all enviromental regulations.

"New projects and challenges are constantly underway. One of the things I try to emphasize to the people I work with is that commitment is the direct path to new opportunities.  This is something I try to make a point of and do my best to lead by example," Stewart Davies says. "BHJ has a corporate culture which in many ways makes my day easier. My relations with partners, customers and colleagues are very good and this helps provide me with energy I use to complete my tasks," Stewart ends.
